The Government of India today launched a mobile app developed in public-private partnerships to bring the people of India together in a resolute fight against COVID-19.
The app, called & # 39; AarogyaSetu & # 39;, connects to the health and well-being of every Indian in Digital India. It allows people to self-assess the risk of contracting the Corona Virus infection. It calculates this based on their interaction with others, using advanced Bluetooth technology, algorithms and artificial intelligence.
Once installed in a smartphone through a simple and easy to use process, the app detects other devices installed on AarogyaSetu that are near that phone. The app can then calculate the risk of infection based on advanced parameters if one of these contacts is tested positive.
The app will help government take the necessary timely steps to assess the risk of spreading COVID-19 infection and provide isolation where appropriate.
The app’s design ensures privacy. The personal data collected by the app is encrypted using the latest technology and remains safe on the phone until needed to facilitate medical intervention.
The app is available in 11 languages, ready for pan-India use from day 1, and has a highly scalable architecture.
This app is a unique example of the coming together of the nation’s young talent and pooling resources and efforts to respond to a global crisis. At the same time, it is a bridge between the public and private sectors, digital technology and health services delivery, and the potential of young India with the nation’s disease-free and healthy future.
