News Highlights: Hacken Community Launched First Grey Hat Hackers Competition to Fight Cyber Crime.
In the aftermath of the Covid-19, millions of people have had to live in their homes for months as governments work to control the spread of the virus. This event is unparalleled in the modern age and has affected almost every industry imaginable, including cybersecurity.
Cyber attacks on the rise
With millions more people online, the potential profit for black hat hackers and cyber criminals is increasing dramatically. Last October, NORDVPN announced that cyber attacks were on as much as 400% at pre-covid levels. With this new influx of attacks, cybersecurity leaders like Hacken.io must come up with new and ingenious ways to counter this accelerating trend.
Gray hat hackers
Gray Hat hackers are hackers who illegally find vulnerabilities in systems without the owner’s knowledge or consent, but then share the information with the system owners who usually charge a small fee instead of exploiting the weakness.
Gray Hat Hacking Solution
Led by long-term investor, venture capitalist, advisor and ecosystem builder Leo Andreo, Hacken supports his community initiative to put gray hackers to work in the name of cyber security.
The Hacking community has launched the first of its kind Gray hat Hackers Ideas Competition, running from January 19 to 31, 2020 and there is a total prize pool of 1 million HAI (approximately USD 30,000) to be shared by the winners. The event director Leo Andreo Hacken will not only personally fund half of the prize pool, but also an additional special prize of USD 5,000 for the most remarkable idea that can be turned into “a white side”.
Dyma Budorin, CEO of Hacken stated:
“We are moving to a new level. I am sure the idea of creating a cryptocurrency used to be impracticable. Today we invite hackers from all over the world to enter the First Gray Hat Hackers Ideas Competition and we are ready to support the brightest and seemingly unattainable ideas ”.
Innovative Crypto Pricing Ideas
Participants are expected to come up with a unique idea that relates directly to the cybersecurity industry. To be a serious contender, Hacken recommends sending ideas via the form on the website, with a pitch deck and a video pitch of 3 minutes (or less) of the idea. Idea must not plagiarize existing projects or companies and all entries must be submitted by January 31st 11:59 PM (UTC + 02:00).
Ideas that assess stages
The initial evaluation of the submitted ideas will be carried out by Mr. Andreo, assisted by Hacken.io core team members from February 1 to February 3. The shortlist of finalists will be presented on February 3.
All projects passing this round will advance to a semi-final, which will run for a week (February 5-11) in the Fireside Chats held in Hacken Club official telegram. The final vote will start between February 12-16 to choose the last 3 winners. The winners are selected as follows:
- 1st place – by Mr. Leo Andreo and Hacken’s core team. Price – 600,000 HAI
- 2nd place – by Hacken’s 4th level members. Price – 300,000 HAI
- 3rd place – by members of the Hacken community. Price – 100,000 HAI
- Special prize from Hacking investor Mr. Leo Andreo – 5,000 USDT
