“Moving forward, LTDHD will refer inquires regarding county specific information to the Kentucky COVID-19 Daily Report at govstatus.egov.com/kycovid19,” according to the news release. According to the health district, the current volume of COVID-19 cases prompted the move. The decision was effective Tuesday. The health district encouraged those who test positive for COVID-19 to notify any close contacts and follow current Centers for Disease Control guidance for isolation.

In Hardin County alone, there were 754 new cases, according to the district. Monday’s report from the district said 1,037 active cases of COVID-19 exist in Hardin County and 1,927 cases in the six-county district, including 1,361 new cases.

Baptist Health Hardin on Monday posted on social media that 45 people were hospitalized there with COVID-19, including 32 unvaccinated patients. There were 13 people who are fully vaccinated, according to the hospital, also hospitalized. People who test positive “will continue to be notified of their results by the provider that tests them. We have only ever notified the people that our agency tested,” said Melissa Phillips, harm reduction specialist and public information officer for the district.

Jeff D’Alessio can be reached at 270-505-1404 or jdalessio@thenewsenterprise.com. As of Monday, there have been 22,375 positive cases in Hardin County — about one in every five people in the county — with 351 deaths. Of the total cases, 20,987 people have recovered.

According to the district’s statement, an isolation/quarantine calculator is available on the district website. Specific questions about COVID-19 also can be directed to the health district’s COVID information team at 270-769-1601. Also, updated information on isolation procedures for positive cases and quarantine steps for close contacts can be found at ltdhd.org.
