You can reset your Apple ID password in case you forget or have other problems with it. Here’s how.

Reset your Apple ID

Use your own iPhone or iPad

  • Open Settings.
  • Crane your name at the top and then go to Password and security> Change password.
  • You’ll be asked to enter the passcode for your device if you’re signed in to iCloud.
  • Follow Apple’s instructions.
  • Use your own Mac

  • Open System preferences. If you have macOS Catalina, click Apple ID> Password and Security. On macOS Mojave, High Sierra or Sierra, click iCloud> Account information.
  • click on Forgot Apple ID or password, then click to change the password. If you’re signed in to iCloud, you’ll be asked for your Mac password.
  • Follow Apple’s instructions.
  • Other options you can use to reset your Apple ID include a trusted phone number or email address, as well as a recovery key if you’ve enabled two-factor authentication on your Apple ID.

    If you don’t have access to one of your devices (or if you don’t have any other Apple devices), you can use the Apple Support app or Find My app on another Apple device.
