In the past year alone, Hokies have ventured to all seven continents, visiting over 50 countries for study abroad programs, global research collaborations, and international service projects. The diversity of disciplines and hands-on experiences available to these students is truly remarkable. From university research initiatives to community engagement projects and industry visits, Virginia Tech’s faculty members guide their students towards understanding themselves and their place in the world.

Theresa Johansson, director of the Office of Global Education at Virginia Techexpressed her gratitude for the work that faculty members do with students abroad. She recognizes that these experiences not only provide valuable knowledge but also shape engaged citizens who can contribute positively to our global community.

The Office of Global Education is an integral part of Broadcasting and International Affairs at Virginia Tech. This office oversees study abroad programs and collaborates with academic units across campus to integrate global education into the curriculum. By doing so, they ensure that every student has access to transformative international experiences.

To showcase the opportunities available through study abroad programs, the Office of Global Education will be hosting its annual Study Abroad Fair on September 26th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Held in the drilling field under large white tents, this event allows students from all majors to explore various short-term and semester-long programs as well as exchanges. Additionally, attendees can gather information about scholarships and financial aid options.

Virginia Tech’s presence around the world is undeniable. Hokies proudly fly their flag in diverse locations worldwide as they embark on life-changing adventures. These experiences not only broaden their horizons but also equip them with invaluable skills for future success.
