Horizon: Call of the Mountain’s uncut gameplay has debuted online for the first time.
Sony has had a booth at the CES 2023 conference in Las Vegas dedicated to the PSVR 2, which is set to launch next month. Members of the public can get their hands on the new headset for the first time before it goes on sale, and play Horizon: Call of the Mountain, as seen in the short video below.
The player in question shows how to fire a bow in Guerrilla’s new PSVR 2 spin-off game. They also demonstrate how running works, with the player motioning both hands as if they were running on the spot, and the in-game character sprinting forward a step with each arm motion.
In addition, we look at how climbing works in Call of the Mountain. The player motions their hands in the air and steadily climbs up a rock face by grasping onto predetermined points, similar to how climbing works in the two mainline Horizon games.
This is the first time we’ve seen uncut Call of the Mountain gameplay, but we’ve seen snippets of it before. Call of the Mountain was announced at last year’s CES in January 2022, and we’ve seen a few gameplay clips since then, showing the player character facing down various mechanical beasts from the Horizon games.
Horizon: Call of the Mountain is a day one launch title for the PSVR 2, which will be released on February 22, 2023. Aloy appears in the new spin-off game as a supporting character rather than as the protagonist.
