Both our organizations share the common goal of establishing a strong internal audit profession, and we look forward to partnering on this imperative. Together, we will continue to work toward our mutual goal to raise the profile of internal audit in Vietnam, strengthen stakeholders’ understanding of the value that internal audit brings to organizations, and advance the profession in Vietnam and globally.”
Pugliese took over on April 1 from the IIA’s longtime president and CEO, Richard Chambers. Pugliese was formerly president and CEO of the California Society of CPAs. The Florida-based IIA, which already has 200,000 members in close to 200 countries and territories, has been developing a presence in Vietnam over several years. The following year, the Vietnam Ministry of Finance issued an internal audit decree that provides a legal framework for the establishment and implementation of internal audit in accordance with the IIA’s International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
