In the meantime, local health departments have been able to obtain grants to open nearly 100 testing sites. There were more than 541,000 free COVID-19 tests provided at Optum sites in 53 counties in the state.
Indiana State Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box stated that demand for testing has decreased, but free testing will remain available at more than 250 sites after the Optum sites close. COVID-19 testing sites can be found by visiting www.coronavirus.in.gov. The state’s partnership with Optum Serve Health Services has been in place for 14 months to help with large-scale testing to Indiana residents and remove barriers to provide free testing at nearby facilities when availability was limited.
