Nothing has unveiled its Ear (2) wireless earphones of the second generation. The new Ear (2) buds include a dual chamber design and bespoke 11.6mm dynamic drivers. These are the official replacement for the Previous Ear (1) and should not be confused with the sophomore Ear (stick) model. They support up to 24bit/192kHz and are Hi-res Audio certified for playback at speeds of up to 1 Mbps. They also support LHDC 5.0 for high-res streaming over Bluetooth.
The earbuds also offer active noise cancellation with three modes that can reduce outside noise up to 40 dB. They use transparent plastic, like like Nothing’s other goods, for a distinctive appearance. Each bud weighs 4.5 grams, which is a little less than the original’s 4.7 grams and has dimensions of 29.4 mm by 21.5 mm by 23.5 mm. The charging case weighs 51.9 grams and has dimensions of 55.5 mm by 55.5 mm by 22 mm. It is also smaller and lighter.
Speaking of battery life, Nothing asserts that its new earbuds can operate for up to four hours with ANC turned on or roughly 6.3 hours without it. When the power stored in the charging case is taken into account, you may get up to 36 hours of playback with the ANC turned off or 22.5 hours with it on.
The charging case can be recharged wirelessly with a Qi certified charger or via USB Type C. Around eight hours of ANC-disabled listening can be obtained from a 10-minute quick charge.
Both iOS 11 and Android 5.1 and newer are compatible with Ear (2). Just squeeze the bud stem to regulate playback. With a single squeeze, you can play, pause, answer, or reject calls. With a double squeeze, you can skip ahead, and with a triple squeeze, you can move backwards one track. Toggle between ANC modes by pinching and holding.
Pre-orders for the $149 Nothing Ear (2) wireless earphones will be accepted starting on March 23. Shipping should commence on March 28. Currently, they are only available in white, but that may change in the future.
