Ivy Tech and Circle City Broadcasting Launch Multicultural Media Producing Program: Empowering Indianapolis’ Diverse Voices

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — WISH-TV’s Multicultural Media Production Program (MMPP) officially kicked off Tuesday night. The program aims to train today’s students to become tomorrow’s news producers and leaders, providing them with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in the media industry.

The MMPP is a one-year certificate program offered at Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis. It is a collaborative effort between WISH-TV’s parent company, Circle City Broadcasting, Ivy Tech Community College Indianapolis, JPMorgan Chase, and the DuJuan and Tina McCoy Foundation. This partnership brings together industry professionals and educational institutions to create a comprehensive learning experience.

With a focus on diversity and inclusion, the MMPP aims to empower students from underrepresented communities who have an interest in pursuing careers in media production. By providing them with hands-on training and mentorship opportunities, the program equips students with the necessary skills to excel in their chosen field.

Throughout the course of the program, 20 students will have the opportunity to learn how newscasts are written, produced, and broadcasted. They will gain practical experience by working alongside professionals in a real-world setting. This immersive learning environment will allow them to develop their technical skills while also honing their creativity and storytelling abilities.

The MMPP recognizes that representation matters in media. By empowering individuals from diverse backgrounds to enter the industry as news producers and leaders, it helps ensure that different perspectives are heard and represented in mainstream media outlets.
