LG Electronics (LG) has filed a lawsuit against Beko Deutschland GmbH at the Mannheim court in Germany for infringement of a steam technology patent protecting certain items of clothing from damage. Beko is a subsidiary of the largest consumer electronics company in Turkey, Arcelik A.S.
“The suit focuses on the user interface of LG washing machines with TrueSteamTM technology. The protected patent prevents steam from spreading in certain washing cycles where heat sensitive garments can be damaged. LG TrueSteam technology is a feature in various household appliances including washing machines , dryers, dishwashers and LG & # 39; s Styler clothing management system, “LG said in a statement. LG uses steam for its clean and safe benefits in sterilization, deodorization and wrinkle relief.
In September, LG filed a lawsuit against Arcelik and its German subsidiaries Beko Deutschland GmbH and Grundig Intermedia GmbH regarding the technology of freezer door ice making in LG Side-by-Side refrigerators. “We bring value to customers through our dedication and commitment to research and development,” said the executive vice president of LG Electronics’ Intellectual Property Center.
“Protecting our intellectual property is a top priority, as innovation should never be taken for granted, as it sets LG apart from the competition,” he added. (ANI)
