“A lot of people take advantage of older people, and they can’t control their money,” Gibson said. “That’s why they need someone to help them manage it.” Gibson takes pride in where he lives. That’s why he’s happy more resources are coming to the people who live there. People living in the 38109 zip code now have the chance to participate in free financial education classes online led by a Bank of America facilitator.
The hospital is now expanding its initiative to also provide free financial education courses to residents living there. Methodist LeBonheur’s ‘Wellness without Walls’ initiative specifically focuses on bringing healthcare resources to people in the 38109 zip code.

Now they’re expanding the initiative with a financial education component. “It’s important for us to bring our resources to them because sometimes they don’t have transportation to get where they need to,” Brown said. “So we want to make sure we have that available to them.” Brown said through their “Wellness without Walls” initiative, Methodist has already been working to bring more healthcare resources and screenings to people in the area.
