The Mizoram government has launched a mobile application for farmers to provide them with the latest agricultural-related information, an official said. Agriculture Minister C Lalrinsanga, who launched the app on Thursday, said the state government has made tremendous efforts to alleviate the difficulties farmers face, which have been severely affected by the closure caused by the corona virus.
He expressed the hope that the new mobile application will help farmers enormously. Lalrinsanga said that the “farmers’ helpline,” which was launched in April, has benefited the farmers immensely.
He said technological and mechanical innovations are key to increasing farmers’ incomes. The minister of agriculture said that technology and mechanization will enlighten and help farmers in different ways.
He said that corn cultivation is widely practiced for the first time in the state under the state’s flagship program – Socio-Economic Development Policy (SEDP). The recently launched mobile application will have various features, including information on the cultivation of different crops, the maximum need for seeds, and estimated total production during the first cultivation, and protection of crops against pests.
The application is available in the Google Play Store.
