In Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World, players will assume the role of Asha alongside her companion Pepelogoo as they must free four spirits trapped by evil forces. Though the story from Monster Boy 4 will remain in-tact, the full remake will feature cell-shaded 3D graphics paired with its 2D gameplay, keeping close to the original game. The Wonder Boy series started as arcade games in 1986, also known as Revenge of Drancon in the United States at the time. After a successful run as arcade cabinets in the 80s and ports to modern consoles such as the Nintendo Wii, the Wonder Boy games started a series of remakes in 2016 with Wonder Boy Returns, a remake of the original Wonder Boy. Likewise, Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap was a remake of Wonder Boy 3: The Dragon’s Trap, and now, Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World is a remake of the 1994 title Monster World 4.
