The public health officials were also commended for their focus on delivering vaccines to historically underserved communities. The department has administered over 80,000 total vaccine doses this year. “During the crisis the most important thing we can do is communicate and communicate with great facts,” Dickstein said. “And so having the guidance that Public Health provided us was really important.”
