Before, xCloud gaming required the use of an Xbox controller in tandem with Android devices. Xbox continued to support this feature but began testing touch controls beginning with Minecraft Dungeons. The touch controls became a wildly popular feature and Xbox was inclined to expand its library of touch-enabled games. While Xbox Game Pass has over 150 games streaming on xCloud, Microsoft has now added over 50 more with touch controls to satisfy the urge to create a truly mobile experience.
With each passing day, Microsoft seems to be able to build Xbox Game Pass to new heights, and the latest upgrade adds to the lineup of more than 50 Xbox touch control games. The update comes alongside new additions to the Game Pass family, including Grand Theft Auto V and Zombie Army 4: Dead War. Microsoft continues to bring new features to the Game Pass, increasing its value to consumers. Just last year, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate added the ability for players to stream games using xCloud, letting them take their Game Pass games on the go. Now, that mobility is stretched to its limit as players can play without controllers by directly using their Android smartphones or tablets.
In an announcement on what’s to come to Game Pass, Xbox revealed that the library of touch control games has exceeded 50 titles. Games like Sea of Thieves, Gears 5, and Slay the Spire have been given touch control features, along with plenty more titles that have been added. While the announcement primarily reveals games coming soon to the Game Pass, over 50 games with touch controls are available for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers right away.
Microsoft’s dedication to bringing fans a popular feature is promising news, as Game Pass continues to grow in size and value. The first game with touch controls arrived in September, but Xbox added more touch control games in October. Now, that library has expanded tremendously, showing off the kind of commitment to user-experience Xbox is willing to deliver. It’s possible that many more games will get the touch control feature, like many of the Bethesda games that joined the Game Pass family, but it would be no surprise if many were still left out.
It’s also entirely possible that only games planning to stay with Game Pass long-term will be willing to add touch control options, as developers have to invest more resources to enable it in games. While some titles have a long life on Game Pass, others come and go fairly quickly. Several games left Game Pass in March 2021, and subscribers get little warning of future departures. The good news is that games that arrive with touch controls are most likely going to stay on Game Pass for quite a while.
