Gibbs said Penn State Health is administering about 2,800 doses a day at its sites. The Berks site sees about 700 patients per day. The vaccination site in Berks is at EnerSys Technology Center, 2400 Bernville Road, Bern Township. Those looking to register should not call EnerSys, officials said. The health system is seeing some no-shows for appointments. There are about 15 to 20 no-shows among the roughly 850 appointments a day at the Hershey site, Gibbs said. She said the other sites are experiencing a similar rate.
Registration is available at vaccine-scheduler.pennstatehealth.org or by calling 844-774-8883. After registering and based on appointment availability, patients will be able to schedule an appointment as soon as they are eligible following the state’s phased vaccination plan.
An appointment is required to receive the vaccine. “Registration on our vaccination website is open to everyone, regardless of eligibility status,” she said during a media briefing Wednesday afternoon. “We are encouraging everyone who wishes to get vaccinated to register in our system now.”
Source Canceling appointments that are no longer needed prevents doses from going to waste, she said. It also helps reduce wait times for eligible people and gives the health system the ability to schedule appointments for others sooner.
Gibbs said those calls are often happening in the evening, which extends the day for staff and is inconvenient for those on the waiting list. “We would like to remind and encourage everyone who has scheduled a vaccination appointment with us that has gotten vaccinated elsewhere or for some other reason doesn’t need the appointment with us anymore to please cancel the appointment either through the website or by calling our call center,” Gibbs said. “When we have no-shows in our clinic, our staff works very hard to make sure that we are not wasting vaccine by calling people on our waiting list or standby lists who meet the state’s eligibility guidelines to come in that same day to receive their vaccination.”
