We have recently learned that Netflix wants to offer games, as well. Would it be similar to Xbox Game Pass? We have reasons to believe that PlayStation will have a say in this.
The internet is full of leaks right now, and one of them has caught our attention big time. It seems that a PlayStation and Netflix team-up is bound to happen for an Xbox Game Pass.
Where the story started
Netflix’s plan already has a codename: “Shark”, which is shown by a shark fin image in its iOS app. But the interesting thing now happens: the same files for PlayStation have a custom icon for the PS5 controllers and a picture of Ghost of Tsushima. This one is a 2020 PlayStation game from Sucker Punch Productions.
If the leaks on the internet are legit, then it might mean that these two companies are working on something great together. But will PlayStation really partner up with Netflix? If yes, we are bound to get the experience of our lives.
Netflix’s deal with Sony
Back in April, Netflix agreed to a US licensing deal, which grants it exclusive rights to Sony Pictures Entertainment film. This agreement allows the streaming service “first pay window” rights to Sony movies from 2022. Uncharted is on that list, as well.
As you probably already know, Sony already has its own PlayStation Now subscription service, and this thing allows users to play PS2, PS3 and PS4 games.
We’re still waiting for PlayStation or Netflix to make a comment, and we will let you know as soon as we hear something.
