Radiation treatment commitments canceled due to technology crash at Southcoast Health

The external vendor that Southcoast Health uses for this treatment is being monitored, but Badgley said there’s no indication from the vendor that any patient data was compromised. He added that the staff has contingency plans in place, including other technology and facilities, to continue patients’ treatment if the outage lasts more than a few days.

This outage impacted just the radiation oncology centers. Badgley said no other Cancer Center clinics and treatments were affected and are fully operational. According to Badgley, fewer than a dozen patients out of about 55 who take part in radiation treatment programs at their centers are experiencing a delay. He said staff members are contacting the impacted patients to apologize.
