Russians will cook their food at home with 3D printers

Peskov is convinced that in order for the technology to become more widespread, it must “join forces” with another growing trend – the production of vegetable meat, notes the Prime Agency. “We are still at a very early stage, but I think it will take 5-7 years to find solutions that we want to put in our kitchens… These will definitely be mass cheap devices, something like vacuum cleaners,” adds Peskov.

3D printers will start printing food en masse in Russian kitchens in 5-7 years, said Dmitry Peskov, President Putin’s special envoy for digital and technological development. The printers themselves will be almost as affordable as the vacuum cleaners, Peskov told RIA Novosti. Printing edible products on a 3D printer is now a reality, but he says this method is currently used on a small scale – for example, for decorating cakes. The ingredients will also not be expensive, he assures. In addition, 3D-printed food will help to significantly reduce the carbon footprint, as plant ingredients will be used in its production.

The project to develop such a printer is included in the STI roadmap for FoodNet – a market for new technologies, products and services in the field of food production and consumption, which can improve people’s quality of life and stimulate economic growth. . FoodNet is expected to become an international market in which Russian companies can sell innovative products and provide services around the world. According to STI experts, by 2035 the size of the FoodNet market will amount to $ 3.5 trillion.

The STI roadmap until 2028 provides for Russians to produce their own food using 3D printers. Developments in this area are already under way. One scenario assumes that the home device can print meat from vegetable protein or from pre-cultured meat cells. On an industrial scale, plans for the production of 3D-printed products have already announced the fast food chain KFC – it intends to produce chicken nuggets using the new technology.
