Samsung released a white paper on the next-generation communications system on Tuesday, 6G, on Tuesday, saying that the company expects the completion of the 6G standard and its earliest commercialization date as early as 2028, while mass commercialization may take place around 2030.
The article entitled “The Next Hyper-Connected Experience for All” highlights Samsung’s vision to bring the next hyper-connected experience to every corner of life. Aside from humans, machines will be the primary users of next-generation technology and will be characterized by delivering cutting-edge services such as truly immersive extended reality (XR), hi-fi mobile hologram and digital replica.
Although the commercialization of 5G is still in the early stages, it is never too early to start preparing for 6G, as it usually takes about ten years from the start of the research to the commercialization of a new generation of communications technology. We have already started researching and developing 6G technologies by building on the experience and capability we have gained by working on multiple generations of communication technology, including 5G.

The article also sheds light on candidate technologies, including terahertz (THz) frequency band, new antenna technologies, advanced duplex technologies, the evolution of network topology and spectrum sharing that could be vital to meet 6G requirements .
