The Korean company is expected to send prototypes to its customers for testing later this month, including to Samsung’s TV division and Japan’s Sony. The prototypes are one 4K QD-OLED TV, one 8K QD-OLED TV and one QD-OLED monitor. On the market they will be positioned as first-class devices in the upper price range.
Korean manufacturer Samsung is working on an entirely new concept for TVs, which, according to initial estimates, will lead to revolutionary changes in the sector. Samsung has begun developing T-Con sync controllers for brand new organic QD-OLED quantum arrays for the next generation of TVs. The company already has three prototypes of the new devices – two TVs and one monitor. QD-OLED technology combines the best qualities of quantum QLED and organic OLED displays, such as high brightness and contrast, matrix thinness, rich color reproduction and efficient power consumption.
It is unknown at this time whether QD-OLED technology will suffer from burning pixels such as OLED. Samsung may begin mass production of QD-OLED panels later this year.
