Square Enix turns down rumors of its sale

Square Enix has denied recent rumors that it is up for sale.

The Japanese gaming company—which is best known for creating video game hits such as the “Final Fantasy” and “Kingdom Hearts” series—released a statement on Friday denying that there were any talks of a potential acquisition of the brand or any of its assets.

“Bloomberg reported today that there is interest from several buyers to acquire Square Enix,” reads the organization’s statement. “However, this report is not based on any announcement by Square Enix Holdings Co., LTD. We do not consider selling off the company or any part of its businesses, nor have we received any offer from any third party to acquire the company or any part of its businesses.”

Additionally, Bloomberg Japan has yet to release a statement of its own pertaining to the report or Square Enix’s response.
