With the release of Steam Replay, Valve has created their own version of Spotify Wrapped. It provides you with a single page that is covered in graphs and figures that show how you used Steam in 2022. Me? Over the course of the year, I played 41 different games, with Spelunky 2 accounting for 30% of my overall playtime. Who are you?
By going to this page and entering your Steam login information, you can check your own Steam Replay. Then, with the ability to share specific charts or the full page, all the stats are provided on a single page. The information is beautifully structured and includes some intriguing facts.
For instance, of the 41 games I played in 2022, 55% were just launched this year. Comparatively, the average for the larger Steam database is 17%. In contrast to the average of 19% for everyone else, only 4% of the games I played were older than 8 years.
17% of my annual Steam game play time was spent on Vampire Survivors, however all of that time was spent in January 2022. You can view all the games you’ve played on a timeline, which is one of my favourite features of the data. I was able to see that I played Vampire Survivors, Cyberpunk 2077, and Jump King in January and Cyberpunk 2077, Unpacking, Olli Olli World, and Grapple Dog in February.
It’s a cool way to look back on and consider your year of PC gaming. I play a lot less now than I used to (mostly on Switch), but I was still astonished by how much I played on Steam. Katharine claims that she played 131 games on Steam this year as a point of comparison.
