If there is one thing that a good portion of people like, it is iPhone. Apple’s most coveted product, the iPhone is not only bought to bend among your friends, it is also valuable because of the high price attached to the iPhone. Therefore, it should come as no surprise when people go to great lengths to get the iPhone. Example: a Chinese man holding 14 units of iPhone 12 Pro Max, worth Rs 18 lakh, he had to deliver and sell a few to live a fancy life, at least for a short while. The man was later caught, ending his fun ride.
A Chinese delivery man named Tang was tasked with delivering 14 iPhone 12 Pro Max units from Meituan-Dianping retailer to an Apple Authorized Reseller in Guiyang, Guizhou Province. According to a report from MyDrivers, a Chinese publication, the order was placed on Nov. 14. Tang, upon receiving the 14 iPhone 12 Pro Max units, apparently canceled these orders, paying CNY 10 for defaulting on his job. But the biggest shock was when he didn’t return it iPhone 12 Pro Max units back to the store.
Instead, Tang shot away with these units, which had a total value of around CNY 180,000, which translates to around Rs 18 lakh. He has become untraceable after this robbery in relation to the store manager and the recipients of the delivery who could contact the person. But the man was soon rounded up, thanks to his reckless buying habits that he continued after becoming part of the iPhone 12 Pro Max units to get instant cash.
According to the report, Tang had opened a box every iPhone 12 Pro Max, one he gave to his friend to pay off the debt he owed him, another on which he took out a mortgage at a pawnshop for CNY 9,500, and the fourth was sold to a cell phone dealer for a lower price of CNY 7,000. The original price of each iPhone 12 Pro Max was reportedly CNY 1,000. The money Tang got after he traded the two iPhone units, was spent on shopping. As a man who won a lottery, Tang rented a BMW car for a fun ride for CNY 600 a day. He even bought new clothes that were expensive.
But his excitement was short-lived. The local police recovered these four units from where they were. The politico seized the rest of the iPhone 12 Pro Max units, which numbered ten, and Tang picked up. The Apple Store has now banned the person from its network and even issued a blacklist for others in the same industry. Of course, Tang will likely be prosecuted under the laws of the country.
This is one of several cases that has happened with Apple iPhones so far. People have done some unthinkable things to get their hands on the new iPhone devices, either because they wanted to show it off or get rich in an instant.
Previously, a Chinese was arrested when he tried to smuggle several iPhone X units from Hong Kong due to the difference in price of the iPhone in the two countries. A similar case occurred in Spain when five Amazon employees attempted a robbery to steal iPhones from inventory, but were later caught when an internal operation was carried out. The total value of these iPhones was approximately $ 500,000 (approximately Rs 3.71 crore).
