Almost two months later, Sony launched its super-compact Sony a7C full-frame camera in India. It was previously announced on September 15 in North America and has now made its way for Indian camera users. The Sony a7C is an ultra-compact camera targeting YouTubers and digital content creators.
Where in the Sony a7C “C” stands for Compact, the camera weighs about 509 grams. In fact, the company claims that “the Alpha 7C is comparable in size and weight to an APS-C camera, at only 1 percent more weight than the Alpha 6600.”
Speaking of the specifications and features of the Sony a7C, the camera borrowed quite a few features from the Sony a7 Mark III. Let’s discuss some details here:
Sony a7C: Tech Specifications
–The Sony a7C is equipped with a 24.2-megapixel 35mm full-frame Exmor R CMOS sensor powered by BIONZ X image processing engine. The sensor offers a dynamic range of 15 stops and a standard ISO that extends to 51,200. The ISO scale is actually expandable from 50 to 2.04800 for low light shooting.
–The a7C full-frame camera features real-time tracking AF with 693-point phase detection in the focal plane. Users also get 5-axis internal stabilization while shooting.
–For video recording capabilities, the a7C can record 4K videos and fullHD videos at up to 120 fps. The camera also offers continuous shooting up to 10 fps. It is also possible to shoot continuously at up to 8 fps in live view mode.
–The a7C has a 0.39-inch viewfinder of 2.35 million pixels with a magnification of 0.59x. There is also an LCD touch screen with approximately 921 thousand dots for better visibility even in bright outdoor conditions.
–As for vlog-specific functions, the a7C has a flip LCD screen for clicking selfies or recording videos. The MOVIE button is placed on top of the camera to operate while recording in selfie mode. A digital audio interface has also been added to the camera’s Multi Interface (MI) Shoe for clearer audio recording. Users can also shoot vertically.
–The a7C has headphone and microphone connections for the convenience of camera users.
–For the battery, the Sony a7C has an NP-FZ100 battery that “provides enough power for long recording times and to capture up to 740 images using the LCD monitor, or 680 images using the viewfinder”.
–Other specifications include a single SD UHS-II memory card slot accessible from the side of the camera.
Sony a7C: price and availability
The full-frame Sony a7C compact camera will be available in India from November 18. Camera users can purchase the Sony a7C for a price of Rs 1,67990. In conjunction with the SEL2860 lens, the Sony Alpha 7C kit can be purchased for Rs 1,96,990.
