News Highlights: Tech Companies are pooling their efforts towards Covid-19 vaccine records
Companies such as Microsoft Corp., Oracle Corp. and Cerner Corp. Work with health groups to help people easily show that they have received a Covid-19 vaccine.
The companies and organizations, including Mayo Clinic, are behind the Vaccination Credential Initiative, which aims to ensure that consumers have access to their vaccination data as the economy reopens and daily life returns to more normal conditions after the pandemic.
The effort aims to help people demonstrate their vaccination status so they can “ return safely to their travel, work, school and life, while protecting their data privacy, ” said Paul Meyer, CEO of the Commons Project Foundation, another group involved in the project.
People who don’t have smartphones can receive prints with QR codes that can be scanned to show their vaccination status, he said.
