For good reason, most device manufacturers have relied on Gorilla Glass. Corning’s most recent release, Gorilla Glass Victus 2, is set to be used on the Galaxy S23 series, providing significant additional protection.
The Gorilla Glass Victus lineup is well-known for the additional protection it provides to phone displays. Corning’s Gorilla Glass is highly shatter resistant and offers decent scratch resistance, all while allowing the device’s display to shine through.
Corning released Gorilla Glass Victus 2 in November 2022, with improvements to drop protection when compared to materials such as concrete, which can cause a very aggressive impact. Another advantage is the environmental benefits, with Corning claiming that Victus 2 contains 22% pre-consumer recycled content on average.
The company announced today that its latest Gorilla Glass Victus 2 will debut in the “next generation of Galaxy smartphones.” While Corning has not explicitly named the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, specifics can be deduced. Of course, the Galaxy S23 belongs to Samsung’s top-tier lineup. Users can expect some of the best materials on the market as a result. We anticipate an improvement in shatter resistance and overall durability with Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
While the Victus 2 has been mentioned in Galaxy S23 rumours, this is the company’s official announcement. As a result, the Galaxy S23 is expected to have minimal design changes when compared to the S22 series. Fortunately, Samsung has decided not to raise the price of the S series from the previous generation to the current generation in the United States. Despite the fact that the event is less than a week away, users can still reserve access to the S23 series before the general public.
