News Highlights: The Genshin Impact 1.3 update includes a free character, new boss, and more
Genshin Impact is a pretty amazing game, undoubtedly one of the best games out there. Whether you’re a beginner just starting out or an advanced player grilling, whether you’re someone who regularly buys in-game items, or you’re an avid player who is unlockable – the game has plenty content to occupy everyone. Game developer studio Mihoyo is now adding more content to Genshin Impact with the upcoming v1.3 “All That Glitters” update scheduled for February 3rd, featuring a new character, new events, a new boss, and a way to create a free 4-star character and tons of free Primogems.
You can check out the trailer above to get a glimpse of all the new changes, or you can watch the full english stream where all the notable changes are expanded, or read on as we summarize everything that’s about to make it into the new update. The full log of changes for the update has not yet been released, so there will probably be a few minor changes, bug fixes, and likely quality of life improvements as well.
New 5-star character: Xiao (Anemo, Polearm)
This update brings a new five-star character in the form of Xiao. From the details given, we know that Xiao is an Anemo character with a Polearm.
Five-star characters are usually referred to as “premium” characters, and as a result, Xiao will also get its own banner that increases the chances of pulling the character through the loot boxes.
But as we mention that Genshin Impact is quite generous to free-to-play players, all players will receive 10 free Intertwined Fate by simply logging into the game for a few days, which they can use on this banner to get their luck. to try. when drawing this new character. Xiao shares his banner with Keqing as there are no new four-star characters in this update.
Free 4-star character
While there are no new four-star characters in this update, Mihoyo is offering all users a free four-star character through the special event “Stand by Me”.
All players who complete the event can choose a four-star character from Xiangling, Xinyan, Beidou, Ningguang, Xingqiu, and Chongyun. While no details have been given on the event tasks, we can expect it to be a bit challenging, but still very attainable for all players.
As for the character to select as a reward, we recommend that you pick up a character you don’t have first and then a repeating character for their constellation. Xingqiu is a good choice because of his additional talent “Flash of Genius”, which gives him a 25% chance to pay back one count of one material from all craft supplies used. Over time, this will be really helpful in gravel leveling. Alternatively, you can also aim for C4 Xiangling or C1 Ningguang if you already have all of these characters.
Lantern Rite event
Lantern Rite will be the highlight of this update, divided into a number of stages. Completing these stages will give you an event-specific currency that you can use in the event-specific store to exchange for Character Ascension fragments, Experience books, Mora of the Dust or Azoth (new material).
Theater Mechanicus – Tower Defense minigame
As part of the Lantern Rite event, we’re getting a new tower defense minigame. The trailer suggests that players can create, place, and upgrade different towers with different elements and mechanics along a path.
Just like tower defense games, hordes of enemies will try to cross the path. Your goal is to keep them from reaching the end of the path. Genshin Impact gives this its own twist by letting you enter the field with your own character and clear up any bottlenecks or just get through faster.
Primo Geovishap – New boss
The Primo Geovishap is a new boss coming to the world of Genshin Impact. This beast turns out to be a very powerful form of the annoying Geovishap Hatchlings. What gives a twist to the story is the fact that this boss can switch between different elements. There is a wait for more details on boss mechanics, but it sure changes things in the way party setups adjust depending on which element of the boss you tackle. The boss is unlocked through a fact-finding mission that will also pay out some Primogems and Mora.
Reinforced overflow of ley lines
With the new update, Mora and Experience Ley Lines have a 2x boosted drop for the first collection. So you can spend 20 resin and get 2x the usual output for your first collection. This will be a significant boost for players grinding to improve their characters.
These are some of the less exciting changes. There will be a new tab in the Archive section that shows Living Beings and their models, as well as how many times you have defeated those enemies so far. The player profile screen also sees a minor overhaul, allowing you to choose up to 4 characters to show to your friends. In the Alchemy section you can now also transform crystals from one element to another using the Dust of Azoth. It’s not clear how easy or difficult it is to get this new material, but it could change the way players deal with pesky bosses. Another event requires you to take pictures of certain things with the in-game camera tool to get Primogems and other rewards. There is also a Parametric Transformer gadget available, which allows you to convert items from one to another.
There also is a small browser minigame which you can play now to get some rewards.
The new update will be rolling out on February 3, 2021, and we can expect the events to be staggered throughout the month.
