The iPhone 15 Pro is expected later this year and will include these seven exclusive features

As is customary, Apple’s next-generation iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be unveiled in September. Rumors already suggest that the devices will have at least seven exclusive features not found on the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.

  • A17 chip: According to the Japanese publication Nikkei Asia, iPhone 15 Pro models will be equipped with an A17 Bionic chip manufactured on TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process, providing performance and efficiency improvements. According to the report, 2023 could be the second year in a row in which only the Pro models of Apple’s new iPhone lineup feature Apple’s latest chip.
  • Titanium frame: According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, analyst Jeff Pu, and the leaker known as “ShrimpApplePro,” the frame on iPhone 15 Pro models will be made of titanium rather than stainless steel, similar to the Apple Watch Ultra.
  • Ultra-thin curved bezels: According to the leaker “ShrimpApplePro,” the iPhone 15 Pro will have ultra-thin curved bezels around the display, similar to recent Apple Watch models. The actual display would remain flat.
  • Faster USB-C port: According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, iPhone 15 Pro models will include a USB-C port with support for at least USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3, resulting in significantly faster data transfer speeds with a cable compared to existing iPhones with Lightning. According to Kuo, the USB-C port on standard iPhone 15 models will continue to be limited to USB 2.0 speeds, similar to Lightning.
  • Increased RAM: According to Taiwanese research firm TrendForce, iPhone 15 Pro models will have an increased 8GB of RAM, while standard models will likely retain their current 6GB of RAM. More RAM allows apps like Safari to keep more content active in the background, preventing the app from reloading content when it is reopened.
  • Solid-state buttons: According to Kuo, iPhone 15 Pro models will have solid-state volume and power buttons. According to the analyst, the devices will include two additional Taptic Engines that will provide haptic feedback to simulate the feeling of pressing buttons without them physically moving, similar to the Home button on the latest iPhone SE or the trackpad on newer MacBooks.
  • According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the iPhone 15 Pro Max could be renamed the iPhone 15 Ultra, similar to the Apple Watch Ultra.

With many months until Apple announces the iPhone 15 series, it’s likely that additional features for the devices will be rumoured, so the information we have now is only a sneak peek at what to expect later this year.
