The Samsung Galaxy S23 may be the first Android phone to support the upgraded Fast Pair feature

Google’s Fast Pair feature can currently be used to pair devices such as earbuds and Wear OS devices. According to newly discovered code, Fast Pair will soon support setting up Android smartphones, with the upcoming Galaxy S23 lineup being the first to receive this support.

Fast Pair is a really useful feature that detects when a device that hasn’t been set up is nearby. For example, when you first turn on a Pixel Watch, your Android phone will prompt you to download and instal the Pixel Watch companion app. In the case of the Galaxy S23, it should be something along the lines of a prompt to download Samsung’s Smart Switch app.

The new Galaxy S23 lineup will be unveiled on February 1 at Galaxy Unpacked in San Francisco. Given that this is the first in-person unveiling from Samsung since 2020, it should be a good time. There will be good times ahead.
