Overall, the May update brings some cool new functionality to the Xbox Series X. While the new features may not be revolutionary or game-changing, they will likely improve the experience of players on the console in more subtle ways. It will be interesting to see what future improvements come to the Xbox Series X, but this month’s additions will definitely help players get more out of their console as they wait for its exciting upcoming titles such as Halo Infinite. With the approaching summer of games industry events, hopefully, Xbox players will get a look at what is coming in the console’s future. Another big new feature coming with the update is new passthrough audio capabilities. Passthrough audio allows console players to have the audio from streaming apps bypass their console and go straight to external sound systems to increase the audio quality. Smaller additions include games in Xbox Game Pass playing trailers directly in the menu, a new dynamic background titled motes, and a new parental controls feature that allows parents to block multiplayer access for certain titles if they deem them unsafe for their children. The new Xbox Game Pass trailers feature aims to help players browse the massive Xbox Game Pass library easier without having to go to individual game pages to decide if they are interested in them. The Xbox Series X/S is available now.

One of the highlights of this month’s upcoming console update includes some nice improvements to the Quick Resume feature. The update brings general improvements such as improved reliability and even faster load times. The biggest update is a new group that will let players see what games are currently suspended in Quick Resume. The update also adds a new tag to games that include quick resume functionality so that players can better identify what games they can utilize the feature with. More Xbox Series X games are getting Quick Resume functionality frequently, so the new feature should help players take advantage of it. The Xbox Series X released last November and attracted many players with its increased power, improved resolution and framerate, backward compatibility, and snazzy new features. One of those features is the Xbox Series X’s Quick Resume feature. Quick Resume lets players keep multiple games at once suspended, allowing them to switch between the games without having to completely relaunch them.
