Samir El-Ghazaly, a Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Arkansas, has been instrumental in creating RF Pyramids LLC. RF Pyramids received a $100,000 Technology Development Program award from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission to develop its efficient RF transistor device. Samir El-Ghazaly and his team came up with the idea for their RF-optimized transistor solution while working on high-frequency transistor modeling and optimization. This transistor will provide up to a two-fold improvement in operating speed, a one-and-a-half to two-fold reduction in device size, and up to a three-fold increase in heat dissipation capabilities.

Samir El-Ghazaly’s Background and Achievements

Samir El-Ghazaly has been a key contributor to technological innovation in his field for many years. He has conducted thorough research and developed products in RF engineering, and his expertise has contributed significantly to the advancement of technology in the high-frequency communication space.

From August 2007 to June 2013, he served as head of the Department of Electrical Engineering at the U of A and held the 21st Century Leadership Chair in Electrical Engineering. In 2015 he received the IEEE Distinguished Educator Award for Microwave Theory and Techniques Society. His research interests include microwave and millimeter wave semiconductor circuits and devices, semiconductor device simulations, electromagnetism, antennas, and numerical techniques applied to monolithic microwave integrated circuits.

From August 2013 to August 2016, he completed two detailed assignments at the US National Science Foundation (NSF), where he served as director of the Division of Electrical, Communications, and Cyber Systems. In 2017, he was the vice president of the Institute of Electrical and Computer Engineering (IEEE) and served as president of the publication Board of Services and Products. He is a member of the IEEE and was Chairman of Commissions A and D of the US URSI National Committee.
