If rumors are to be believed, Microsoft is planning an Xbox “What’s Next for Gaming” event in the coming weeks. According to the reports, a gamer-focused showcase is coming soon, along with other ‘What’s Next’ corporate events. However, this doesn’t mean you should expect big disclosures, especially for information related to the biggest upcoming Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S games, such as Halo Infinite or Fable.
Instead, it looks like this will likely focus on technology and the Xbox ecosystem as a whole, which could be insightful in terms of figuring out the Xbox roadmap and strategy. ZDNet notes that this event is supposedly separate from the upcoming Microsoft Game Stack Live event.
We may be able to see updates on how the Xbox network works or even new troubled features. Xbox Head Phil Spencer has indicated that Xbox Cloud Gaming is coming to iOS soon and now would be the perfect time to reveal it.
For now, the ESA has confirmed that E3 2021 will arrive as a digital event in June, with brands including Capcom, Koch Media, Ubisoft, Take-Two Interactive, WB Games and Xbox.
