Twitter is testing a new feature that allows users to shop right from within the mobile app. Recently, Twitter has been adding and testing a number of new features, including letting those with the iOS beta app sign in with their Apple ID. Twitter is not always adding features, however. For example, the company recently announced it’s getting rid of Fleets, following a short-lived run that started in August of last year.
Similar to Instagram and WhatsApp, Twitter is now testing a new shopping module that makes it possible to shop without leaving the app.
Suggestion For You:
Other social media apps already allow users to shop in the app, such as the Shopping tab on Instagram. The Shopping tab allows creators as well as major brands to sell directly to their Instagram followers. Facebook introduced a Shop section to the app in August of 2020, while WhatsApp added a similar ‘Carts’ section to its app in December of that year and lets users pay for multiple items at once. Adding to social media’s expansion into shopping, TikTok is also readying a shopping feature for its app.

According to Twitter, the new feature is currently being tested via the iOS app. Users will be able to shop right from the brand’s profile page, and prices will be displayed along with the name of the item and a small picture. The shopping carousel will be located between the brand’s Twitter bio and any Tweets posted by the account. From the looks of it, the user won’t need to be following the page in order to buy from the brand and, judging by the image released by Twitter, GameStop and Arden Cove are two of the brands that have already signed up.

Twitter confirms Twitter Blue’s price
Twitter is already a great option for any customers looking to stay updated on sales and new products. With this new feature, this will be an additional way to not only stay up to date on what’s new, but also quickly make a purchase as well. It is also likely to be of benefit to the brands, considering the shopping module is an additional way to showcase new products while also increasing customer engagement with a Twitter account. In turn, the more customer interaction a brand’s Twitter page gets, the more new customers it is likely to get.
Most importantly, it is just convenient. If someone is already scrolling through Twitter, and they need to buy a piece of luggage from Arden Cove, it will be as simple as going to the brand’s Twitter profile, finding the item they like and completing the purchase. As the customer doesn’t have to leave the Twitter app, it should also speed up the process of getting back to liking and retweeting again.
