The state added 42,156 cases over the last week, including 3,944 on Monday, for a total of 1,257,142 since the pandemic began. In the last week, Trumbull added 422 cases, bringing its total to 18,356. Mahoning County added 589 cases in the last week, bringing its total to 24,839. Columbiana County has a total of 10,450 cases, after adding 374 new cases over the last week.
All three counties remain below the state average vaccination rate of 52.41 percent, with a 50.86 percent rate in Mahoning County, a 48.44 percent rate in Trumbull County and a rate more than 10 points lower than the state average — 41.12 percent — in Columbiana County. Mahoning County logged the most cases, reporting 75, and Columbiana logged more new cases than Trumbull County — a rarity — with 54 new cases to Trumbull’s 39. Trumbull County has a population nearly twice the size of Columbiana County, and Trumbull County has seen about 8,000 more cases of the virus since the beginning of the pandemic.
