What You Should Know About Android 2022 Core Chip

The replacement to Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 888 + processor was just introduced. Rather of using the standard three-digit numbering scheme, Qualcomm has established a new naming approach, which will be known as Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Each new CPU generation is anticipated to boost speed. Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is no exception, with a single 3.0 GHz prime core, triple 2.5 GHz performance cores, and quadruple 1.8 GHz efficiency cores delivering a 20 percent performance boost.

Its next generation Adreno GPU also has a 30% bump in graphics rendering capacity and is claimed to be 60% faster than the previous 888 chip due to the Vulkan Graphics drivers.

More than that, the CPU and GPU have a 30% and 25% increase in power efficiency, respectively. This means that next-generation flagship phones last longer on a single charge, despite working much faster than previous-generation devices.

Apart from the CPU and GPU, newer processors now have AI cores. These processors focus on creative solutions instead of brutal force to get things done. That way, they work more efficiently and require less power than conventional processors.


Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has twice as much computing performance and memory compared to the previous gen 888 chip. This results in over four times faster processing speeds and better efficiency.

It also has the 3rd generation Sensing Hub – which now supports an Always-on camera mode. This is similar to how your phone’s microphone can pick up voice commands even when the screen is locked. But this time it is the front camera that does the sensing. The always-on camera feature means that your phone can automatically detect who took it and unlock the screen if it is an authorized user. It can also check if someone is lurking behind you, and alert you if it detects someone.

Qualcomm also uses this AI engine for antenna tuning. The way you hold your phone may affect one or more of the antennas around your device. Using the AI ​​chip, the phone can now determine which antennas are blocked by your hand, thus allowing the device to direct power and signal to the unblocked antennas. This optimizes power consumption while providing higher speeds and better coverage.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip has a triple-core 18-bit image signal processor called the Qualcomm Spectra ISP. This means that it can now process 4,096 times more camera data than the previous gen chip. So what does it all mean? The 18-bit processor can now process and record multiple colors, making images more naturally vivid when taken. It can also capture an additional four stops of dynamic range, ensuring you do not lose detail in the darker and lighter parts of your images.

Because of these technologies, the Spectra ISP allows you to take 30 pictures in a single shot for the ultimate picture in night mode. Compared to the Snapdragon 888, it is five times more images, which ensures that you get clean, sharp and bright images, even when there is almost no light available. More than that, the power of the Spectra ISP allows it to take 240 12-megapixel photos in one second. This translates to the ability to have ultra-slow motion video, the ability to record 8K HDR 10+ recordings while simultaneously capturing a 64-megapixel photo, and 4K movie video. Qualcomm also partnered with Leica to develop its AI systems for its camera. Because smartphones are ultra-thin, they can not accommodate the large lenses that produce iconic bokeh and other effects you get from large digital SLR cameras.
