Andy Kegley, Executive Director of HOPE, Inc., expressed his gratitude for the help that WCC scholarship recipients provide – many of whom volunteer to help address the food insecurity needs in the community by working at the Open Door Café, as well as assisting with the HOPE Packs program for K-12 public school students. HOPE, Inc. is among the many local organizations where students receiving the Wythe-Bland Foundation Scholarship can spend time giving back to their community.
The Wythe-Bland Foundation Scholarship Program provides tuition and fees not covered by other financial aid. It does not cover textbook costs. These students who meet basic residency requirements, and those who graduated via the class of 2020 not only receive scholarship assistance but are also given a chance to make connections and give back to their community through the scholarship requirement of completing volunteer community service hours at approved local non-profit organizations.
