OPPO yesterday launched its new smartphone series R dubbed the OPPO R17 in China. It turned out to be the brand’s first phone to boast an integrated fingerprint sensor. In addition, the smartphone is also equipped with the latest Snapdragon 670 chipset, Gorilla Glass 6 protection, and a very small notch. It seems that OPPO is now considering bringing a “Pro” model of the R17. After a poster of the alleged OPPO R17 Pro appeared on the interwebs, the smartphone appeared on the site of Geekbench with the model number OPPO PBEM00.
The Geekbench list also revealed that the handset is powered by the Snapdragon SoC 710, 8GB of RAM and the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. The smartphone managed to get 1,711 points in the single-core test and 5,811 points in the multi-core test. Unfortunately, it did not reveal much information on the OPPO R17 Pro smartphone.
However, OPPO confirmed the Weibo that his smartphone R17 Pro will have variable openings between the f / 1.7 and the f / 2.4, similar to those you saw on the Galaxy S9. Meanwhile, there are reports that the handset might feature triple-back cameras, where the third sensor could be zoomed. Apart from that, everything else on OPPO R17 Pro should be the same as his brother, including an end-to-end display.
As a reminder, the OPPO R17 sports a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD + resolution and a screen/body ratio of 91.5%. It has a dual camera configuration at the back and a 25-megapixel sensor at the front for selfies and video calls. The handset is powered by a 3500 mAh battery with VOOC fast charge support. It is pre-loaded with Android 8.1 ColorE 5.2 based on Oreo and connectivity options like 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.
The OPPO R17 will go on sale August 18 in China and the company has not yet announced its price.
