With the Sennheiser GSP 670, the Sennheiser’s first wireless gaming headset, Sennheiser lands on an exceptional blend of finesse and function. The GSP 670 shares some similarities with the Sennheiser GSP 600 wired headset and the same speaker technology in each ear cup. However, this cordless model has a 16-hour battery life (or up to 20 hours when connected via Bluetooth) and very low latency. That compatibility means the GSP 670 can be used with about any device you can throw at it, from PCs to consoles, smartphones, and tablets.
Meanwhile, a generous control grid and fundamentally impressive sound quality, combined with excellent feel and weight, make an argument for its premium price. Visually, the GSP 670 continues the aesthetics of the GSP family, which could be described as unfriendly as Terminator ear protectors. The overall appearance of the headset is probably the aspect I am least impressed with. But Sennheiser was right to keep the headset’s diagram subdued by using black and gray and avoiding RGB lighting or accent colors. With so many angles and planes, you don’t need extra detail.
Again, Sennheiser did not skimp on building materials. The memory foam and leather goods contact point covers are top-of-the-line, transferring the value from the moment we pulled the headset out of the box. The generous padding on the top of the headband did its job, making me feel comfortable for hours. This kind of super-soft padding tends to hold its shape and resistance pretty well over time, so we expect a reasonably consistent comfort experience for the first few months of wearing. With the right adjustments, the ear shells were never buried, but they felt firm enough so that I could move my head comfortably without the headphones changing position.
- Wonderfully balanced audio
- Intuitive controls
- Excellent mic quality
- Battery life could be better
