The Google Pixel Buds A-Series review: Outstanding value

The Google Pixel Buds A Series, priced at Rs 9,999, is the latest TWS entry in the less than Rs 10,000 price range. But do the new Pixel Buds outperform the recently released OnePlus Buds Pro or Nothing Ear (1)? In this review, India Today Tech tries to provide an explanation. Noise cancellation and wireless charging are not available. The Pixel Buds A-series truly wireless earbuds are important to Google as they represent the company’s first foray into the personal wireless audio category in India.

What this means is that these are Google’s first true wireless earphones in the country and pack a punch in terms of the set of features and total value. The Google Pixel Buds A-Series promises not only a “premium audio experience”, but also hands-free access to Google Assistant. It also comes with water and sweat resistance to further sweeten the overall package. As with the Pixel 3a, 4a, and 5a, the all-new Google Pixel Buds are appended with an “A,” meaning it’s a decent features but at an accessible price.

But is the Rs 9,999 price tag worth it for the Google Pixel Buds A-Series in India? The question is crucial as the sub-Rs 10,000 segment now has an intense rivalry thanks to the recent launches of the OnePlus Buds Pro and Nothing Ear (1) true wireless earbuds. Since I’ve already reviewed both the OnePlus and Nothing TWS, it should be easier for me to answer whether you should pick the Google Pixel Buds A-Series over its competition.

Google Pixel Buds A-Series review: Impressive looks and comfortable fit Pixel Buds A-Series reminds me a lot of the egg shape I used to draw in my primary grade. It is oval and more compact than most of the TWS options available in India. The charging case definitely has an appeal and looks different from the rest of the truly wireless options under Rs 10,000.

At around 53 grams, the Pixel Buds A-series charging case is lightweight and each earbud weighs around 5 grams, which is also relatively light for everyday use. Unlike Samsung’s ugly bean-shaped earbuds, the Pixel Buds A series features the iconic Pixel Buds design that sits almost flush with the ears. When plugged in, the Pixel Buds A Series has a low profile that looks subtle, and best of all, the snug fit keeps them from falling while you run, jump or walk.

We live in a post-pandemic era (it may be too early to call the post, but fingers crossed), which means there’s a chance you’ll be wearing a mask when out of your mind. home for all. Though TWS designs may never have considered this, but I suppose they should now. The Pixel Buds A-Series comes with a stabilizer arch that offers a flush-to-ear design, meaning you can comfortably wear or remove your facemask with the Google earbuds plugged into your ear. I’d definitely give the Pixel Buds A-Series brownie points for the design that keeps me carefree as this endless loop of wearing and taking off your mask continues throughout the day. I encountered this problem with the AirPods Pro where I dropped it several times while wearing a mask.

The charging case feels sturdy enough and has magnets that hold the earbuds securely. However, if you drop the charging case, get ready to find the earbuds on the floor, as happened twice during the review. The case has a matte finish which I liked, and it can double up too up like a fidget spinner (almost). The Pixel Buds A-Series is available in a single color Clear White. The top of the earbuds has a matte finish, which is comfortable to hold, while the bottom is made of glossy material. There are minor cost savings on the earbuds, as there are two charging pins, and the mouthpiece is made of plastic and not metal like we see on the premium Pixel Buds 2.

The earbuds come with a beam-forming microphone and a noise-cancelling microphone towards the top part. In addition, each earbud comes with capacitive touch sensors for music, calls and Assistant controls. There is also a single IR proximity sensor for in-ear detection to play and pause automatically. Speaking of touch controls, the earbud can be pressed once to play or pause, double tap to skip, or triple tap to rewind. However, you’ll have to rely on Google Assistant for adjusting the volume control, which can be a task if you’re in a crowded place.

Google says the earbuds come with custom-designed 12mm dynamic drivers and sporty spatial vents to reduce the feeling of a clogged ear. In addition, you can choose between three ear tip measurements for the best fit. Each earplug comes with a stabilizing arch that is gently tucked into the ear, while the soft-fit ear tip goes inside. However, after reviewing dozens of TWS options, I can say that the Google Pixel Buds A Series offers a more comfortable fit.

Google Pixel Buds A-Series review: Set up and Pixel Buds app. Institution up the Pixel Buds A-Series is simple. Open the lid and press the clutch button a few seconds on the back of the charging case. a bang-up appears on the Android device to connect the earbuds and follow the instructions to download the Pixel Buds mobile app on you phone† While I used the Pixel Buds A-Series with both an iPhone and an Android device. But I found that it was much more convenient to use it with an Android device than with an iPhone. All the more so because there is no dedicated Pixel Buds app for the iPhone.
