The How to Choose the Best Headphones for Your Job

I get a lot of headphones.

I try them out, listen to some of my favorite songs and then put them aside until they come up for rating.

More than a few new models came in over the summer, so I decided to do a back-to-school headphone collection.

Here are four very different models of headphones for very different situations.

BuddyPhones School+ headphones are for kids, and I know this because they really don’t fit me unless I put them on the back of my head.

The BuddyPhones School+ Wireless Headphones ($48) surprised me with how good they sound.

I have to admit that when I see children’s headphones, I don’t automatically think of high fidelity, but the BuddyPhones School+ sounds great. They can be used wired or wirelessly via Bluetooth.

The built-in battery lasts 20 hours and charges via USB-C.

There is a microphone on the headphones and there is also a detachable boom microphone that works very well for online learning.

BuddyPhones School+ has built-in volume limiting so your little one’s hearing isn’t damaged.

Parents can set the decibel limit with buttons on the headset.

There are three volume levels: 75 decibels for toddlers, 85 decibels for children and a maximum volume of 94 decibels for traveling (like listening on an airplane). Changing the volume limit is as easy as pressing the volume up and down buttons at the same time.

The BuddyPhones have a special study mode switch, which makes the sound lighter up on the bass and bring voices to the front and center so the listener can focus on voices.

If your kids are taking online classes this year, the BuddyPhones School+ is a great accessory for them. They are available in white with several bright colored accents and there are stickers in the box if your kids want to personalize them.

I’ve tested many Bluetooth active noise canceling earbuds and find that the quality of the sound and noise cancellation varies greatly depending on how well they fit in your ears.

I didn’t have high hopes for the Enacfire A9 Bluetooth Earbuds ($66.66), but they sounded really good and the mics pick up my voice is also very clear.

They have a design similar to the AirPods Pro, with a silicone ear tip and a stem sticking out of your ear. The A9s really didn’t seal well in my ears (I’ve tried all three) tip sizes), so I didn’t hear much actual noise cancellation, but the sound of music playback was still very pleasant.

They have a small battery holder to keep them charged up, and I found it a bit challenging to remove the buttons from the case. My big fingers struggled to get a grip to pull them out. They are held by fairly strong magnets.

The A9s have a four-microphone array to reduce background noise and keep your voice intelligible.

I would equate these with AirPods Pro for sound quality and voice quality. They are damn good for the price.
