The Review of the Tronsmart Apollo Air+ Earbuds: Expensive sound quality at an affordable price

Let me tell you about my favorite new earbuds. Now I’m not an audiophile and I don’t pay more than $100 for a pair of earbuds because I know without a doubt I’ll end up losing one. So when I say these are my all-time favorite earbuds, I’m not trying to compare them to $200 or $300 earbuds from Apple or Bose. But when it comes to affordable earbuds under $100, these Apollo Air+ earbuds from Tronsmart are the absolute best.

After a few weeks of steady listening, I’ve come to the following conclusions about the Apollo Air+ Earbuds; the sound is beautiful, the microphones are top notch and the technology is largely on point. These earbuds aren’t perfect though, so I’ve given them 4.5 stars instead of 5, but they’re pretty close. I’ll go over all the details below, but first the obvious pros and cons:

Tronsmart Apollo Air+ Earbuds review: Price and availability What’s good What’s not good The competition Should you buy? Tronsmart Apollo Air Plus Truewireless Stereo Plus Hybrid Anc Earbuds Tronsmart Apollo Air+ Earbuds

In short: for this price you won’t find better sound in a pair of earbuds. The notes are clear when listening to Tronsmart Apollo Air+ Earbuds, the voices are pure and the bass is pleasantly booming.

You can find Tronsmart Apollo Air+ Earbuds on the Tronsmart website, on Amazon or on Geekbuying.com, the official dealer of Tronsmart. That’s where you get the best deal, currently for $80. On Amazon, they go for $99, but shipping is a lot faster for US buyers. Wherever you buy them, the price is a great value for the sound quality you get.

I’ve already talked about this, but I want to emphasize how good these earbuds sound. I’ve never heard such a clear and pure sound from any other pair of mid-line earphones. Voices in particular are crystal clear and Apple’s spatial audio music is beautiful to listen to. Even the bass is deep and rumbling, which I haven’t experienced with earbuds before.

The microphones are also excellent. One thing I’ve always hated about other earbuds is that no one can hear me during phone calls and that it may be difficult to phone ring if there is a lot of ambient noise. The choice for Apollo Air+ earplugs up my voice, even when I speak in a whisper, and they use ANC technology to suppress ambient noise. That way I can also hear voice calls even when I’m outside on a busy street. This is great for work calls and especially conference calls.

I’ve never heard such a clear and pure sound from any other pair of mid-line earphones.

These earbuds can get VERY loud. But even at the highest volumes, the sound is clear and undistorted. Be careful though, as they can certainly get loud enough to damage your hearing, so I recommend using Apple’s headphone safety settings to make sure you’re not listening at dangerous volume levels. Another thing I liked is the automatic pause feature. When you take an earbud out of your ear, they automatically stop playing, so you don’t have to worry about trying to pause furiously when someone starts talking to you.

Last but not least, I like the active noise cancellation on these earbuds. I’ve seen some other users complain that it’s not great, but it worked just fine when I used them. Obviously I wouldn’t expect the same level of ANC from earbuds as I would from over-ear headphones, but I definitely noticed less ambient noise with ANC. I think the ANC would work even better if the ear-tips fits my ears perfectly, but I’ll go into that in the next section.

Tronsmart Apollo Air+ earbuds: how many taps did you say? Tronsmart Apollo Air True Wireless EarbudsSource: Jaclyn Kilani/iMore

Okay, so let’s explain why I’m not automatically giving the great-sounding Apollo Air+ Earbuds five stars. The first is that I didn’t find a pair of extra small ears tips included in the package. There are four different sizes, but because my inner ear is so oddly shaped, I need a very small earpiece.tip for a good fit. Some earbuds come with these, and some don’t. I could try to use some ear tips from another pair of earbuds but I have to write my review based on this product as it comes.

The other thing is that the smart touch system used to operate these earbuds was difficult for me to master. Double tap to start or stop playback, triple tap to toggle ANC on and off, and so on. The instructions are a bit confusing and the tap functionality can be overly sensitive. Sometimes the earbud thinks I’m tapping three times when I’m actually tapping twice. This will take some getting used to, but maybe I’ll get the hang of it eventually.
