The Review on JBL Endurance Peak II

Motivation is one of the most common barriers to setting up a regular workout routine, but JBL is trying to grease the gears with its simple and sturdy JBL Endurance Peak II. This set of IPX7 earphones features a smart ear-hook design and touch controls to minimize how often you use your phone. Now you can focus all your mental and physical energy on the exercises at hand. Let’s give these earbuds a try and see if they’re really made to last.

Who should get the JBL Endurance Peak II?

A woman wears the JBL ENDURANCE PEAK II true wireless workout earbuds in profile.

Adjustable ear hooks wrap around the back of your ears for a secure fit.

Athletes are the target audience of JBL with the Endurance Peak II. Although the earplugs are not for swimming, they can withstand submersion for up up to 30 minutes. The stabilizing ear hooks work hard to keep the earbuds in place during all movements. Anyone can use these earbuds, although the case is a bit bulky to throw in a fanny pack or purse.

What is it like to use JBL Endurance Peak II?

A chalky hand reaches for the JBL ENDURANCE PEAK II true wireless workout earbuds in the open charging case.

While the Endurance Peak II does not have an official dust-resistance rating, the earbuds remain undamaged after several hours of rock-climbing sessions.

Anyone familiar with JBL products will feel comfortable with the Endurance Peak II. Like the Endurance Peak before it, the second generation of earphones uses JBL’s PowerHook technology. The first time you separate the earhook ends from the housings, the earbuds power on and enter pairing mode. From then on, separating the PowerHooks automatically reconnects the earbuds to your smartphone.

Start here: What’s a good set of in-ears?

Like any good pair of workout earphones, the JBL Endurance Peak II doesn’t require much interaction with your smartphone thanks to its extensive, but unchanging, touch controls. Anyone who moves outside a lot or is hard of hearing can opt for mono playback, which limits the operating functionality.

Stereo Controls:

Left Button Right Button Single Tap – Next Track – Answer/End Call – Pause/Resume Play – Answer/End Call Double Tap – Previous Track – Voice Assistant Access – Call Ignore Slide N/A Up: Increase volume – Down: Decrease volume Long press – Mute/unmute microphone – Mute/unmute microphone

Mono operation:

Left or Right Button Single Tap – Pause/Resume Play – Answer/End Call Double Tap – Voice Assistant Access – Call Ignore Slide N/A Long Press – Mute/Unmute Microphone

JBL isn’t shy about reminding you and informing others that you’re using a JBL headset: the company logo is embossed on each earbud and case. A seam bisects the case and when you press the . press button the lid pops open to reveal the earphones. Two large inlets accommodate the knobs, which must be positioned with some precision to lock the lid. While the case is still more compact than on-ear or over-ear headphones, it is larger than most true wireless cases and shares the same dimensions as the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds case.

Is JBL Endurance Peak II good for sports?

One hand holds the JBL ENDURANCE PEAK II true wireless workout earbuds by the powerhook, which turns the earbuds on and off.

When you detach the PowerHook from the earpiece base, the headset will automatically enter pairing mode.

Overall, the JBL Endurance Peak II is a great training buddy. The IPX7 rating will relieve even the most sweaty people. Interestingly, while these don’t have an official dust-resistance rating, JBL depicts a mountaineer on the packaging. For the uninitiated, mountaineers often chalk up their hands. Still, I’ve often visited my local climbing school with these earphones and they’re no worse for wear. That said, use them at your own risk around dust, dirt, chalk, and sand.
