The Review on Lava ProBuds

Lava’s new range of smartphones brought something new this year. Of course, we were excited to see if the company’s new true wireless earbuds were in the same vein. Check out our full review below to learn more.

Lava ProBuds: What’s Good?

Design, build quality: the Lava ProBuds feature a great design that looks sleek in matte black. The vertical housing also has a nice, sturdy hinge. A couple of additions we liked here are the battery status LEDs on the outside of the case, where they should be, unlike some products that now have these placed in the lid.

Another interesting element that we weren’t very sure about is the charging port on the side of the case rather than on the bottom or back. This certainly grabs the case from its symmetrical design when it’s charging, but then makes it handy when you’re charging the case with your phonereverse charging or a power bank.

The earbuds themselves are among the best we’ve tested in this segment. Everything from the weight, the fit and the comfort is right, even when you use the ProBuds for longer sessions. However, that again can be subjective to your ear size and design. Fortunately, there are replaceable silicones tips for this.

Unfortunately, the port is still a micro USB port and not USB-C, which is weird considering Lava’s own top budget phones have switched to USB-C.

Sound: Coming to the most important aspect of the Lava ProBuds, the sound isn’t too impressive, but not bad either. The ProBuds sound like many budget earbuds and give a clean output that’s fairly clear considering the price here. However, with this price comes the lack of depth and richness, which is due to the small 5.8mm drivers.

As a result, the instrument separation isn’t great, discernible in multi-layered sounds like Linkin Park’s ‘Faint’ or Evanescence’s ‘My Immortal’. While it may sound like complaining, the Lava ProBuds is still competitive with and better than some of the entries when it comes to this price range. Also, the bass is quite punchy, so if you only like bass-heavy music, you should be fine.

Connectivity: One of the best aspects of the Lava ProBuds is one where some other budget devices tend to falter and that’s good, solid, reliable connectivity. The Lava ProBuds are great here, they connect instantly to a number of devices including several phones from popular brands.

The pairing process was also a breeze. There are also absolutely no problems with the individual earbuds of the ProBuds connecting together. Simply pull the earbuds out of the earbuds and the earbuds will be connected to each other and to your device by the time they are in your ear.

Battery Life: The Lava ProBuds Too feature good battery life and can last between 4 and 5 hours in one go, and maybe more depending on the type of music you’re listening to and the volume levels. Practically speaking, unless you like longer music or calling sessions, a single charge should easily last you at least a few days. Call Quality: Like many cheap earbuds, there is one area the Lava ProBuds struggle with and that is call quality. Unfortunately, the dreaded ‘budget Bluetooth earbuds call quality’ is an obvious feature in conversations, as parties, on the other hand, in blind tests almost always complained of muffled voices and overall poor sound quality.

You can still make calls, and yes, they should work just fine if you’re in a quiet place. But if you are calling or calling the ProBuds in the middle of a busy day at the office or from a cafeteria, you will often repeat sentences.
: Who should get the Lava ProBuds?

The Lava ProBuds offer a decent sound experience, on par with many other rivals in its segment, but it’s aspects like battery life, reliable connectivity and solid build quality that set the ProBuds apart from the rest. You will find similar sounding earbuds priced at Rs 2,199 or even a little less. However, if the aspects mentioned above are important, this is a solid product to consider for those who just want a consistent music listening experience without too many phone calls.
