The Review on Lypertek PurePlay Z3 2.0
The PurePlay Z3 2.0 is another excellent pair of affordable true wireless devices from Lypertek, featuring the new app and features extend life and add more value than before. Pros
LDX mode provides enhanced audio quality Affordable price Comfortable to wear for listening or fitness use Huge battery life
Hear Through mode disappoints Some may prefer touch buttons about the physical of Lypertek
LDX audio mode Higher quality audio mode for greater detail and breadth of the soundstage Hear Through mode When activated, filters more ambient noise through to the listener Wireless charging Charging case supports Qi wireless charging
When Lypertek released the Tevi in 2019, they instantly became one of our favorite affordable true wireless earbuds.
A year later they had a name change (PurePlay Z3), and 2021 brings the latest revision and – possibly – the best version of these earbuds yet. The PurePlay Z3 2.0 looks the same, but the changes come in the form of a new app, a powerful audio mode, improved Bluetooth specs and a new Ambient mode.
The cheap true wireless market has become even more competitive since the release of the original Lypertek earbuds, with the likes of Google, Panasonic and Sennheiser jumping on the cheap true wireless bandwagon. Are these features enough to keep these Lypertek buds in the top tier of cheap true wireless devices? Let’s listen again to the PurePlay Z3 2.0.
The Lypertek PurePlay Z3 2.0 replaced the original around Spring 2021, and they don’t cost a cent, cent, or dollar more than the original. Design
Better finish Good, comfortable fit Touch buttons for playback, volume and Hear Through mode
The PurePlay Z3 2.0 is the same shape and size as the original Tevi, the only difference being that the finish is better than the glossy plastic sheen of the original.
There is also no change in the control scheme, with physical buttons the order of the day. The upside is that you can count on responsive pressing, but if you’re someone who’s wary of how earbuds ‘feel’, pushing the PurePlay Z3 2.0 in any further won’t do you any good.
Available in white or black, the Z3 2.0 offers the same reassuringly secure and comfortable fit as before, blocking out a solid amount of external noise so audio doesn’t have to compete (as much) with the world around you. If you like to use them as a gym option, they’re a solid set for that too.
The selection of earbuds includes three silicone tips (S, M, L) and a Flexifit foam tip (M). The charging case is also the same beautifully finished accessory as before, wrapped in a textured dark or light gray fabric.
Overall, the PurePlay Z3 2.0 are pretty much the same, and I have few complaints about that. Lypertek PurePlay Z3 2.0 in addition to the old version
New app brings customization to the table Generous battery life Hear Through mode disappoints
Despite noise cancellation becoming more common at this price point, Lypertek hasn’t gone down that route. Instead, they introduced the same Hear Through technology that: featured on the SoundFree S20, but the results are decidedly lukewarm.
