The Review on OneOdio Fusion A70 Bluetooth & Wired Headphones
Last week I reviewed the OneOdio A30, which I thought was fantastic, throwing in all the affordable headphones with half-decent active noise cancellation.
Today I have the OneOdio A70, which is even more affordable, costing £39.99 on Amazon but with a 15% off coupon that brings them back to £33.99. Or available directly from OneOdio for £28.80 with the code HAPPY20 at checkout.
Driver: 40 mm Sensitivity: 110 dB ± 3 dB Impedance: 32 Ohm Frequency response 20 Hz-20 KHz Battery: 50 hours Connectivity – Bluetooth and wired (dual wired connections) Cables 3.5 mm and 3.5 mm to 6.5 mm
Design & Fit
The only unique feature these headphones have the option for a 3.5mm input or 6.5mm. The only advantage of this I know of is that people can link headphones together so they can listen to content from the same source. This can be useful in some scenarios, it would be great on flights or train journeys when my and my partner both want to watch something on a tablet/laptop.
I’m not quite sure why they used 6.5mm though. A little bit of research shows that there’s no functional difference between 3.5mm and 6.5 performance these days, and the included cable is 3.5mm to 6.5mm, so you’re still plugging into a 3.5mm source. The supplied cable seems to allow you to connect musical instruments from 6.5mm to the 3.5mm cable.
The headphones themselves are the usual all-plastic construction with uPVC-coated ear pads. They look good as far as affordable headphones go, and there are plenty of adjustments to make them comfortable.
The ear pads fit almost over my large ears, maybe a little on them. I find that I get warm ears within an hour, which is standard for this design of headphones.
OneOdio advertises that these have extra bass sound and that they are designed for both DJs and bass lovers.
That is probably an accurate description. Audiophiles or anyone looking to listen to things analytically should avoid this one, but I imagine the general public will enjoy the sound.
They are very bass heavy, with the emphasis of the bass extending into the midrange, which can have a negative effect on vocals and midrange clarity.
There is a slight increase in the treble, which gives an overall V-shaped sound, but this is only slightly increased, so it doesn’t stop up sound too loud.
In general, mids suffer from the bass bleed quite a bit, but if you like bass-heavy music these can be fun to listen to. Battery
These claim to offer a 50 hour battery which is just mind boggling. I haven’t used them that long so can’t confirm the exact battery life, but they show no signs of dying after a few hours of use. This battery life makes them a great option to keep in your travel bag and you rarely have to worry about charging when you’re on the go. Price and alternative options
The OneOdio A70 costs £39.99 on Amazon, but with a 15% off coupon that takes them to £33.99. Or available directly from OneOdio for £28.80 with the code HAPPY20 at checkout.
At this end of the market, it’s hard to pick decent alternative options. Amazon is saturated with affordable brands. OneOdio competes with itself, I can see at least 7 different models, all within £10 of each other.
Looking at Amazon reviews, unreliable as they are, OneOdio seems like the best choice at this price point. I personally prefer the slightly more expensive OneOdio A30 Overall
The OneOdio Fusion A70 headphones are good affordable headphones. My first impressions were that they are overly bassy, but it’s not as bad as I initially thought.
Because of the heavy bass, you should specifically want this sound profile when you buy it. I think most people will like them, especially regular buyers who want affordable headphones, not audiophiles.
