The Review on Razer Anzu
Razer Anzu smart glasses are a great idea for the work of home generation, with open-ear audio, great microphones and anti-fatigue lenses with blue light filter. As long as they sounded good and were comfortable to wear. In front of

Waking up, work, put on pants for the video team meeting, go for a walk, listen to your aunt’s chilling stories on Zoom, then eat, sleep and repeat. The Groundhog Day vibes of our lives have certainly been strong over the past year, boosting sales of two key things: headphones and blue-light filtering glasses.
But what happens when you put them together? Easy. You get the Razer Anzu smart glasses – a pair of working specs with open-ear audio and built-in microphones for your all-in-one eye protection for conference calls.
On the surface, these should tick all the boxes, not just for: home workers but also gamers, right? Don’t be so quick to assume that this is the solution for remote working. Razer Anzu: Availability and Price
The Razer Anzu smart glasses come in two sizes and two styles: small/medium or large, and you can choose between rectangular or round frames.
Whichever you choose, the price is the same: $199.99 or £199.99.
This is a steep asking price if you compare it to picking up blue light filtering glasses and a good set of earplugs. Razer Anzu: Design
Razer went for a classic look with the Anzu – either a -Ban-esque rectangular design or a round shape with tea shade for the mod-loving folks out there. All the electronics have been put in the temples to give them a nice clean look.
This puts them head and shoulders above the competition in gaming specs in terms of visual appeal. Instead of looking like a rejected character from The Matrix, these look like glasses you’re not ashamed to be seen in public.
And it turns out Razer built these with confidence that you’ll wear them out anywhere by including IPX4 water resistance and the ability to switch lenses. You will even find polarized lenses to wear them as sunglasses.
There’s just one big problem: a standard pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers weighs 35 grams (1.2 ounces). The Razer Anzus I tested is much heavier at 47 g (1.7 ounces). I’ll be honest, when I read the weight before putting them on, my first impression was “that’s not going to make a difference.” I turned out to be wrong. Very wrong.
The wearing comfort of these pants quickly disappears after an hour and after two hours turns into a painful pain on the bridge of your ears. With all the technology in the temples, they put some serious weight on your ears and get uncomfortable after a short while.
Razer has to find a way to reduce some weight or redistribute some of the technology around the front of the glasses, or both. Razer Anzu: Control
You control the Razer Anzu using touchpads on each side of the specs and unfortunately gesture execution can be hit and miss.
I am always a fan of physical buttons until companies find out how to create fast, responsive touch surfaces and Razer didn’t convince me. These goggles were supposed to recognize the standard sequence of taps, double taps and long presses, but the whole process of repeating gestures became too tedious to the point where it was easier to phone from.
That’s even after going through the Razer in-app tutorial and deal with my input more slowly and consciously. After a while (and a bit of patience) I finally figured it out, but work needs to be done to make it more responsive and the actions faster. Razer Anzu: Audio Quality
