The Sony Xperia 10 III ready for an review
Say hello to the freshly arrived Sony Xperia 10 III. This is Sony’s midrange offering and it’s one that may look simple but is in fact packed with everything you need.
Let’s unpack and take it from there. The shopping experience is a bit of a let down for a phone that costs £399 / €429 on pre-order. There is a USB cable, a 7.5W charger that looks straight out of 2008 and nothing else. A case would have been nice. Anyway, Sony is pre-ordering a free pair of Sony WH-CH710N noise canceling headphones.
The Sony Xperia 10 III doesn’t make a memorable first impression, but it’s a solid thing not to judge something by its looks. All about this phone is understated, yet capable.
The screen has the classic Sony 21:9 aspect ratio and it’s a 1080p OLED to boot. Unfortunately, Sony couldn’t fit a fingerprint scanner under it and one is mounted on the side instead.
Under the hood is an 8nm Snapdragon 690 which should strike a good balance between performance and efficiency, which, coupled with the well-sized 4,500 mAh battery, should provide plenty of runtimes.
Then there is a complete series cameraPhotos: wide angle, 2x telephoto and 16mm ultra wide angle. The camera hardware behind the lenses isn’t the most impressive out there, but we expect the Sony processing to deliver good results as usual.
Finally, there’s the 3.5mm headphone jack with LDAC and Hi-Res audio support and the IP68 water and dust resistance for peace of mind.
Comparing the Xperia 10 III to its predecessor makes for a fun game that is. On closer inspection, the III is slightly shorter than the II. It is also a bit heavier, which is not immediately noticeable. What you probably notice is the 20% increase in battery capacity on the newer phone.
