In 2016, Sony has just launched its first phablet and the latest member of the Xperia X family, the large 6-inch Xperia XA Ultra. You can try our run-down of the Xperia XA Ultra’s specs and features. However, we also had the possibility to go hands-on with the Ultra at Sony’s HQ in Tokyo and so far we like. The latest phablet from Sony sounds like an excellent package on paper and is quite smooth regarding appears. The cameras are fairly good Sony hasn’t confirmed a price point for a smartphone. Sony Xperia XA Ultra is priced at $414 USD.

At first look, the Xperia XA Ultra looks similar to the Xperia C5 Ultra due to the large selfie camera. Sony has put in plenty of hard work in the ‘borderless display’ appearance. Whereas using the smartphone, it’s hard to tell that there is a bezel on the sides of the screen. His handset has the front covered in a curved 2.5D glass which provides it a premium feel, a metal body in the middle and a matte plastic finish on the back, similar to the Xperia XA. The 16MP front-facing camera, a LED flash and the usual set of sensors. The top edge has a mic for video recording and the headphone jack, and the right side has around power/sleep button along with a camera shutter button and the volume rocker. The left edge has a flap that protects the SIM card and microSD card slots. The bottom has a microphone when making a phone call and microUSB port. The back, as mentioned earlier than, has a matte finish and also has 21MP rear camera with a LED flash.

It Has definite attraction for media followers who need to enjoy films and shows on the go. It’s an HD panel, however, Sony’s X-Reality display tech, which sharpens up your pictures on the fly. It comes with a 6-inch display with 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels.

That big screen may be an eyebrow raiser. However, the Xperia XA Ultra’s most excellent feature is its 16-megapixel front-facing camera with single LED flash. The re’s even built-in Visual Image Stabilisation, to eliminate those blurry nightclub shots when your arm is a little unsteady.

This feature, combined with Sony’s new Night Portrait shoot, should help to produce some nice pictures when you hit the city or indulge in a spot of night tourism.

To do this, the Xperia XA Ultra combines some quickly shot pics with the flash turned off, with a single body taken using the flash. In this way, it should successfully capture each the background and your superb mug, for an impressive selfie shot.

Sony now has an LG-style control shutter mode too, for getting selfies. Just hold up your hand and the phone detects it.

The lens knows specifically where to focus after you hit the shutter button.

It also has 16GB of storage along with an option to add a microSD card as much as 200GB and 3GB of RAM. On the connectivity side,  you also get 4G LTE support, dual-SIM card slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and USB OTG. The configuration gives enough amount of power to the handset, and everything looks pretty solid. No signs of stutter or lag, however, after all, we will only come to a verdict when we take it via the tests.
